The system behind more than 300 setups: how to build a U.S. credit profile as an entrepreneur outside the U.S., with no U.S. residence and no SSN. This is the real process, step by step, written to be used rather than to sell.
This is the short version you can read right here. The full playbook comes as a PDF: the complete system more than 300 entrepreneurs outside the U.S. have used to build $150k+ in U.S. credit lines. 100% free, delivered instantly by email. Over 600 entrepreneurs have already downloaded it.
Credit systems in most countries outside the U.S. keep you small. In Europe, for example, limits sit around €5,000-15,000, interest rates at 18-25% a year, and cashback at 0.5-1%. The U.S. system works on a different scale, with credit lines from $50,000 to $500,000+, 0% APR windows of 12-18 months, and rewards programs that let frequent spenders fly business class without paying for it.
The most important difference, though, is structural: your U.S. credit profile is tied to you as a person (through your ITIN), not to where you live. Your local credit history, on the other hand, often fades once you move away. With no registered address and no active accounts, it stops counting, and abroad it was never worth much anyway. If you move or plan to, you lose your creditworthiness. A U.S. credit profile travels with you and keeps growing, wherever you live.
No foundation, no credit. The order matters:
The most common mistake: the ITIN application (Form W-7) gets rejected over formal errors, the number one reason for rejection. Every rejection costs you weeks. Getting it right the first time, or having it done right, saves you months.
With your LLC and EIN in place, you open your first U.S. accounts fully remotely at fintech banks such as Mercury or Relay. Add a payment setup (Stripe, for example) so your business can accept U.S. payments.
But see fintechs for what they are: your starting point, not your destination. Fintech accounts don't build a credit score. For that, you need credit cards and the real banks.
Watch out for account closures: incorrect or inconsistent details during account opening regularly get accounts shut down before they're fully open, and a closure at one provider makes the next application harder. Doing it right once beats doing it fast three times.
With your ITIN, you start your credit profile with secured cards, credit cards backed by a deposit. You can get them with no credit history, both personal and business.
Now strategy matters more than speed:
Your first credit score appears about 90 days after you open your first accounts at branch banks (Chase, for example). From then on, it grows with every clean month.
Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo are where the big credit lines come from. They open accounts for non-U.S. residents in person, at the branch. That's why a complete setup includes a trip to Miami.
This is where most people fail. Walk into a branch unprepared, with the wrong documents, missing proof or the wrong answers, and you fly home without an account. Preparation is everything: the right documents, the right bank, the right appointment, the right story.
Pro tip: plan your Miami trip only once your ITIN and documents are complete, and open accounts at several banks while you're there. One trip, several banking relationships, and your secured cards in hand.
Already have an American Express from your home country, for example Germany or Austria? Then there's a fast track. With the Amex Global Transfer, you move your membership to the U.S. and get a U.S. Amex with no U.S. credit history, and even without an ITIN. Your "Member since" status carries over, and you reach Gold, Platinum and business cards much sooner. Typical limits are $10,000-15,000, often with 0% interest in the first year.
Timing is everything: the transfer only works while your home-country Amex is active. If you move abroad and cancel your local cards first, that door closes for good. Transfer first, cancel later.
After about 3 months of strategic use, you get your first unsecured cards, with no deposit and growing limits. In months 8-12, the premium doors open on both the personal and the business side: Amex Gold and Platinum, Chase Sapphire.
From here, the system works for you:
Your credit score climbs from 0 to 700+. That's creditworthiness tied to you, and it travels with you.
